Faryan Andrew Afifi
Senior Partner
Faryan only discovered that he was happiest as a trial lawyer through a fortuitous set of events. Having obtained his Chemical Engineering Degree from UCLA in 1988, and working for a large oil company, he realized doing the same thing they have done for the past 100 years was not his calling, so he decided to learn the law. In his second year of law school during his Evidence class, the adversarial competition which appealed to him coalesced with the needs of a trial lawyer. That was it.
His first several bench trials in the first few months after graduating law school in 1993, and his first jury trial in the first year after law school simply reaffirmed he had made the right choice. What followed was 30 years of complex and intriguing business disputes and trials, real property and industrial espionage cases, technical IP disputes, employment disputes, and corporate and partnership disputes to name a few of the practice areas of this office. Faryan’s greatest gift has been the diversity of his clients allowing him to delve into exciting, very important and extremely challenging cases requiring constant strategic insight and innovation. His engineering background is invaluable in understanding complex issues, examining expert witnesses, and most importantly explaining technical concepts to juries. Faryan has consulted with and assisted in a variety of legal areas, both litigation and transactional, as well as strategic and regulatory compliance issues. He is often consulted by other attorneys for litigation and strategic advice. Most importantly he is grateful for the privilege his clients who he considers to be his friends, have afforded him each time they ask him to represent them in any matter.
